       2002 Lecture Tour to Minneapolis

On October 11-13, 2002 we were blessed to have Brother Achalananda, from the SRF board of directors, and Brahmachari Dominic bring the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda to us. The public lectures were held once again at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis and all other activities were held at the group's chapel. 

Shortly after their arrival on October 10th Brother Achalananda and Br. Dominic met with the local planning committee to discuss the upcoming activities. 

On Thursday evening October 10th Br. Dominic gave an inspirational service at the Meditation Group chapel. The chapel was full to overflowing.

Once again, the public lectures were held at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis.

Brother Achalananda gave a wonderful public lecture at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis, October 11th entitled To be Victorious in Life attended by about 240 souls.

For the public events at the Woman's Club we set up a bookroom in a tent just outside the entryway. It worked out quite well.

Brother Achalananda gave the Sunday morning service in our chapel on October 13th. The chapel and foyer were packed. Overflow seating was required upstairs in our social room, which was connected to the service via microphone and speakers! Br. Dominic lead the Sunday school service while Brother was in the chapel. 

Following the Sunday morning service Brother Achalananda gave a christening service for about 7 children and their families.

Brother blessed,  prayed for, pronamed to, and greeted devotees following viewing of the video Glimpses of a Life Divine on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday evening following the public lecture and video many devotees were privileged to join Brother Achalananda and Br. Dominic for dinner at the New Dehli restaurant. Brother gave an inspiring talk following the meal. 

Many, many devotees donated their time and resources in order that the event would be a success. They helped in the bookroom at the group location, with flowers for kriya and elsewhere, ushering in the chapel and at the Woman's Club, providing information and free literature at the Woman's club, greeting people at the Woman's Club, signing devotees up for the kriya initiation and the SRF lessons, and during many, many other activities that weren't captured on film.  During a lull in the activities some of the volunteers joined Br. Dominic for a meal in our social room. Thank you so much volunteers - the blessings of God and Guru be with you!  

As in 1998, when Brother Achalananda and Br. Dominic were free from the duties relating to the lecture tour they were able to visit some local sites including Lake Calhoun and Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, Assisi Heights in Rochester, and a nice drive down the Mississippi River with its many scenic overlooks.
